Determining Eligibility Early Leaves Less to Chance

Your service to our country determines your eligibility for VA home loan benefits. This benefit can be earned through the eight uniformed branches, including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, NOAA, and PHS with specific service requirements outlined for each by the VA.

The VA ultimately determines eligibility for benefits. In general, Veterans, active service members, weekend warriors of our Guard and Reserve, surviving spouses, and officers of the NOAA and PHS can potentially earn eligibility to apply for a VA loan.

To summarize, two years on active duty or six years in the Reserve or Guard are required to earn eligibility. And, if no longer serving, your separation must have been under eligible terms. Officers of the NOAA and PHS also follow these general service guidelines. And surviving spouses are eligible for VA loan benefits if they receive, or can be approved for, DIC benefits.

Complete your self-assessment and let us help you with your next steps toward homeownership.
